Review

Bulk Rename is a high quality utility program, which becomes very useful while dealing with multiple files or folders at once. The application is written in Visual C++ and incorporates a number of attractive features such as provision to rename files, folders or both, change the case of filenames, remove or change a filename, perform string substitution, Append dates in many formats, remove characters or words, append the parent folder's name, remove digits or symbols, append or propend text and much more.

The user can automatically preview the new names, auto-number files with flexible rules, and application also supports functionality of sorting file details by any column, grouping the configurations into favorites, Bulk Renaming Explorer extension and files from an input text-file list as well.

Other functionalities also include directory recursion along with provision to process subdirectories, creation of an Undo batch file, creating the log activity for a text log file, changing file and folder date/time-stamps and even file or folder attributes such as hidden, read-only, or archived. The package also contains a lightweight, fully compiled executable file, inheriting many of the features of Bulk Rename Utility, but runs from the command line, which is perfect for inclusion in login scripts, batch files, or scheduled jobs.
